Rhythms of Renewal is a music recycling project by the Nilotika Cultural Ensemble members Maganda Shakul and Wasswa Jovias. The project aims to reimagine the care practices of cleaning and clearing grounds occupied by waste materials and turning the waste into musical instruments that resonate with different ancestral rhythms. These unique instruments, embodying the spirit of renewal, are then used in vibrant performances & showcases, transforming discarded materials into sounds that celebrate the resilience and ingenuity of Ugandan culture.

Nilotika Cultural Ensemble (NCE) is an arts-based community collective in Kampala & Wakiso, Uganda. Open to all children, youths, adults and elders, NCE serves as a hub for groups and individuals who are passionate about music, dance, performance, fashion design, tailoring and African crafts. They champion cultural entrepreneurship grounded in African spirituality and indigenous identity.
